Innovative approaches, based on reuse, are needed to avoid the redesign and implementation of software solutions. They call for reusable information through reusable components, patterns, designs, tests, etc. They play a pivotal role in the capture, representation, maintenance, integration, validation, and extrapolation of information; and, apply both information and knowledge for enhancing decision-making in various application domains. Special attention is given to non-functional properties, such as performance or security, involving intensive reuse. Formal methods are needed to provide a foundation upon which reuse and integration may be built.
