I would prefer to keep the asdf files where they are at the moment and just
get rid of the asdf subdirectory and the symlinks. It's just personal taste
but I somehow like the asff files being placed in the top-level directory
of packages. And keeping them there and just deleting the asdf
subdirectories is much less work for you since you don't have to edit any
asdf files.
